Centerpiece LLC offers a teen program for children ages 12-18 that are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The teens have named their group “The Autism
Crusaders” and they meet twice per week during the school year and once per week during the summer months.
The Centerpiece LLC Teen Program has several objectives:
- To provide teens with a safe and fun social environment, that allows them to build relationships and practice social and life skills
- To practice daily living skills needed at home and in the community (using money, cooking, ordering and eating out, shopping)
- To provide teens with opportunities to practice job readiness and begin laying a foundation of the skills and expectations that will be required for future employment (job shadowing, guest speakers, mock interviews)
Teens typically meet one night per week at Centerpiece LLC and one night per week in the community. Centerpiece LLC does not provide transportation and parents must transport their child to the community outing each week. A schedule of outings is published at the beginning of each semester.
All teens must meet with our clinical team prior to enrollment to ensure that placement in the teen program is appropriate. One on one staffing may be required in some cases and will be discussed before placement is made.
